“We are being confused with Zemmour”: Renaissance considers changing its name to exist

According to BFMTV , Renaissance, the Macronist party led by Gabriel Attal, launched an internal consultation this week to consider a name change, due to its “low profile.” A party official admits that “people don’t know what Renaissance is” and that “we are sometimes confused with Éric Zemmour’s party (Editor’s note: Reconquest).” Others believe that the current name “has not made an impression on the French” and that it suffers from a “lack of partisan ideological reflection.” The consultation will continue until the end of the summer, with no decision expected before the start of the school year. If the majority of members reject the change, the party will keep its name. Founded in 2016 under the name En Marche, the movement has already changed its identity twice.
